I highly recommend Andrew. He did an amazing job. He is very polite, knowledgeable, leaves no trash behind and really cares about his customers. Andrew took the time to explain to me on how he was gonna do the job of wiring a newly built shed and had asked if I personally had any other questions or concerns. Which is a rarity now-days of being asked. He also took the time to trace out a 3 wall light switch that I did have concerns of whether or not they were properly installed and labeled correctly for usage. So, Andrew corrected the problem with his electrical expertise for a new exterior light. Thank you, Again!!! I will definitely refer Andrew to other people in need of electrical assistance. Andrew you definitely deserved the 5 star rating!!

We recently had an issue with the wiring in several light switches and had a great experience with Shockwave Electric. Andrew was professional, knowledgeable, and quickly identified the problem. He took the time to explain what was causing the issue and made sure everything was repaired properly. He was prompt, courteous, and respectful of our home throughout the process. It’s such a relief to find a reliable electrician you can trust. We highly recommend Shockwave Electric and will definitely call them again for any future electrical needs!
Our work

Take a look at the work we do

These are our own installs. Look at how the wire is run, how the breakers are set, and how the box is left when we close the door — that is the standard your panel gets.

A service change-out, finished. New panel wired and dressed, the meter socket open beside it, and a whole-house surge device mounted underneath.
200 amp exterior electrical panel with around thirty circuit breakers and neatly dressed wiring
200 amp main, around thirty circuits, every conductor combed out and run to its own breaker. Conduit into the top of the can, nothing left hanging.

Inside the box: a 200 amp main, and neutrals and grounds landed one wire per screw on their own bars. That is what an inspector opens the door to check.

Who turns up

Andrew Sutton, and the license in his name.

The license on this page is not a company badge — it is his. He opens the panel, tells you what is in it, and puts his name to the work that follows.

What we do

Every electrical service, one licensed contractor.

Panels are the heart of it — but the same license covers the whole house.

Panel Replacement

Old or unsafe panel out, a new code-ready one in.

Panel Repair

A bad breaker or warm cover fixed — no full swap.

Panel Upgrades

More power for a growing home — 100, 200 or 400 amp.

New & Sub-Panels

A first panel, or a second for a garage, shop or pool.

Meter Replacement

Meter can and service entrance brought up to date.

Surge Protection

One device at the panel that guards every outlet.

Circuit Breakers

New or replacement breakers, sized to the circuit.

Wiring & Dedicated Circuits

Rewires, plus their own line for AC, range or dryer.

Outlets, Switches & Lighting

Outlets, switches and recessed lights, set clean.

EV Charger Installation

A Level 2 charger wired for the car in the driveway.

Repairs & Inspections

Faults traced and fixed, and panels checked for insurance.

Emergency & Commercial

24/7 call-outs, and electrical work for local businesses.

What actually happens

Four steps. We pull the permit.

A panel change is not a same-afternoon job. Anyone who says it is, is skipping something.

1

We look

A licensed electrician opens the panel and checks the service, the bus, the breakers.

2

You get it in writing

Replacement or upgrade, and the make and model of what you have. Compare it with anyone.

3

We pull the permit

Permit and utility coordination are ours. Not yours, and not an extra line on the bill.

4

Install and inspection

New panel in, every circuit labeled, signed off. You keep the paperwork.

Why the permit matters. Unpermitted work surfaces later — at resale, at a four-point inspection, or in the middle of a claim. Most contractors leave it to you. We do not.

Sound familiar?

Six signs a panel is done

Panels rarely fail all at once. They warn you for months.

A breaker keeps tripping

Same breaker, every time the AC and the microwave run together. That is not a fault. That is capacity.

Lights dip on start-up

The compressor kicks in and the room dims. Voltage drop — and it worsens with every circuit you add.

Warm, buzzing or scorched

Heat, a hum, a burning smell, brown marks. Do not open it. This is the one that should not wait.

No slots left

Every space full, or two circuits sharing one breaker. Adding a pool, a shop or a charger? Panel first.

Your insurer named it

A four-point inspection flagged the brand. In Florida, that is what holds a policy up.

It still has fuses

Not a brand — an era. Working perfectly, right up until the day the house asks for more.

Burning smell, scorch marks, or hot to the touch? Do not open the panel. Switch off what you can and call us on (941) 780-4141.

The question everyone arrives with

Replacement, or just an upgrade?

Two different jobs. Two very different bills. Here is how we tell them apart.

Replacement — the panel is the problem

  • Heat damage or corrosion inside
  • A brand with a failure history
  • Breakers no longer made
  • A fuse box running the whole house
  • An inspector named it

Upgrade — the panel is sound, just small

  • Healthy panel, no room left
  • Adding a pool, shop or charger
  • Moving 100 amp to 200 amp
  • Nothing damaged, just full
  • Room to grow before the next project

You should not have to guess, and you should not pay to find out. We look, and we tell you which one it is — in writing. If an upgrade will do, we say so. That is the smaller job.

Check the label on the door

Is your panel one of these?

These names come up again and again in Florida four-point inspections. If one is inside your panel door, that is usually why you are reading this.

Federal Pacific / FPEThe most flagged name in home inspections. Owners find out from an inspector, not from the panel.
Stab-LokThe breaker line inside FPE panels. Replacements are hard to source at all.
ZinscoCalled out far more often than its market share explains.
ChallengerSame inspection reports. Parts are the practical problem.
SylvaniaTurns up in homes of a certain age across Charlotte and Sarasota counties.
Any fuse boxNot a brand — an era. Built for a house that no longer exists.

How we will talk to you about this. We are electricians — not your insurer, not a home inspector. We tell you exactly what is in your panel, put the make and model in writing, and replace it if you decide to. We will not tell you the house is about to burn down to sell you a panel. If it is fine, we say so.

100 · 200 · 400 amp

How much service do you actually need?

Amperage is the size of the pipe. We ask what you are adding in the next two years, not just what you run today.

100 amp
  • Fine for a small home on gas
  • Tight once you add AC plus a pool
  • Usually where an upgrade starts
200 amp
  • What most homes move up to
  • Room for a pool pump, shop or charger
  • What inspections and lenders expect
400 amp
  • Large homes, suites, detached buildings
  • Size it once instead of twice
  • We will say if you do not need it

Moving 100 to 200 amps is a service upgrade — meter, riser and utility, not just the panel. We run that whole sequence. You are never the one on hold with the power company.

Still have questions?

If yours is not here, ask on the phone. We would rather answer it now.

No. If an upgrade solves it, we say so — that is the smaller job. Anything we find while the panel is open comes with a reason attached, and you decide. Nothing extra happens without your yes.
A straight panel change-out is normally one day. A full service upgrade — meter, riser, utility — can run into a second, partly on the utility's schedule. We tell you which yours is before we start.
Hours, not the whole day. You get the window in advance so you can plan around fridges, medical equipment and anyone working from home.
A replacement swaps the panel. An upgrade increases how much power the house can draw, which usually means the meter, riser and utility change too. People ask for one and need the other more often than you would think.
Yes — one of the most common jobs we do. It is a service upgrade, so the utility is involved. We coordinate that.
We do. Permit and utility coordination are handled by us, and you get the sign-off paperwork afterwards.
Often, yes. A breaker that trips under normal load is usually telling you the service behind it is undersized, and that is a panel conversation rather than a breaker one. We open it up and tell you plainly which it is. To be straight with you: swapping a single breaker is not the work we take on — we replace and upgrade panels.
Phones are answered around the clock on (941) 780-4141. You get a real answer on the call, not a promise on a web page.
